Capstone Assignment Information

Leading with Finance

——
Overview

Each participant is required to submit this assignment as part of the learning requirements to earn a Certificate of Completion in Leading with Finance. The purpose of this individual exercise is for you to demonstrate to us – and to yourself – how much you have learned about finance by taking this course. This is not intended to be an intimidating exercise, but rather an opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of the principles of finance. The Capstone Assignment is to be completed on your own, and your responses should reflect your unique perspective on what you have learned in the course.

Note that all Capstone Assignment submissions must be completed in accordance with our Academic Honesty policies and HBS Online Honor Code. We expect that your submissions will primarily be written in your own words, and that you will cite any outside sources you reference. Citations are expected whenever you include outside information that is not from your personal knowledge, such as a website or Generative AI. Remember that external sources should only be used to support your own thoughts and analysis. Most of your work must be original. Copying and pasting text from the internet or other sources without a proper citation or unauthorized use of Generative AI may result in you being deemed ineligible for your Certificate of Completion. Please review the HBS Citation Guide for assistance with citing your sources.

Accessing the Capstone Assignment

The Capstone Assignment will open at the same time as Module 5. To access your Capstone Assignment, simply return to your course dashboard and the Capstone Assignment will be listed as one of your options. Click "start," and you will be brought to the assignment. Please read all instructions carefully to ensure you successfully save and complete all of your work.

——
Logistics

There are 11 questions in total, covering all of the material discussed in the course. Your answers to each question should be about a paragraph in length. You must complete all 11 questions by the final module deadline to remain eligible for a Certificate of Completion in the course.

Please note: the progress bar for the Capstone Assignment on your course dashboard will remain at 0% until all 11 questions are answered and the assignment is complete, after which it will show 50%. Once the final course deadline has passed, and you have viewed the answer key (see below for grading), the progress bar will show 100%.

——
Grading

The Capstone Assignment is self-graded. After the final deadline, we will reveal our suggested answers to the questions on the course platform on the Capstone Assignment dashboard page. Incorrect answers will not affect whether or not you receive a certificate; in this assignment, we want to see that you made a thoughtful and concerted effort to answer the questions. Review our answer key and compare your own responses to determine where you did well and where you might improve.
